File Specifications For Movie Posters.
Review Bleed, Trim & Safety Areas
Please, ensure your movie poster's file has the following dimensions below when you start the printing process:
- Trim size 27” x 40”: The product currently selected in the configurator above on this page will be delivered in these dimensions.
- Bleed size 27.20” x 40.20”: Include + 1/10" on all four sides. This is the bleed that will be trimmed. Extend background images and graphics beyond this area.
- Safe Zone: Keep all text and key elements at least 1/12" from the trim edge to prevent being trimmed.
RGB vs CMYK
We recommend you use only CMYK. Files in RGB or with spot colors will be automatically converted, which may cause colors to appear different from the original file.
- The total ink coverage (C+M+Y+K) must not exceed 300% to ensure proper drying and prevent pages from sticking.
- For black or gray text, use only the K channel.
- For a rich black, you can use 40C / 0M / 0Y / 100K or 60/40/40/100
- For a rich black, you can use 40C / 0M / 0Y / 100K or 60/40/40/100
Image Resolution: Avoid Blurry Images
We recommend that you use an image resolution needs of at least 150 dpi (recommended 300 dpi) to ensure sharp, high-quality results. So avoid low-resolution or pixelated images.
Explore the Folding Options of Movie Posters
- For single-sided posters, please contact us after placing your order to specify whether you’d like the fold to face inward (design inside) or outward (design outside). By default, posters are folded with the design inside.
- Your design should account for the folding direction and sequence. Please refer to the layout preview in the product configurator.
- Depending on the fold type, only 80 lb. to 120 lb. paper stocks are available.
Film Lamination
Film lamination is applied directly to your bulk movie posters, adding a protective layer to the printed surface. Unlike plastic pockets or sleeves, it is directly applied to the poster paper.
Also, you can choose either matte or gloss film lamination, depending on the finish you prefer.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to lamination:
- Posters are trimmed after lamination, so the edges will not be sealed
- Lamination adds durability and resistance to handling
Fonts
For offset printing, use PostScript fonts whenever possible. If your artwork includes TrueType fonts, convert them to outlines, paths, or curves before submitting the file (to help prevent font rendering issues).
Save Your File Correctly
For the best color accuracy and reliable printing results, export your artwork as a PDF/X-3 file. You may also send JPEG or TIFF files.
If you are working in Adobe Photoshop, we recommend save your artwork as a JPEG or TIFF. If you need to submit a Photoshop PDF, please create the PDF using Acrobat Distiller. Our Acrobat JobOptions file is available further down this page in the templates section.
Please never save a PDF directly from Photoshop.
