Ensure your file matches the selected size and orientation (portrait or landscape). If your file differs from the ordered size, it may be resized automatically unless you add the Trim to Custom Size service.
Follow the panel layout and measurements shown in the layout mockup above.
A CD insert is printed on 1 sheet but counts as 2 pages: the front side (Page 1) and the back side (Page 2). That single sheet is then folded into the panels of your chosen fold type. All CD inserts must have a design on both sides of the sheet, so be sure to supply artwork for both Page 1 and Page 2.
The order of your pages matters. Page 1 must always be the outside of the folded insert and include the front cover, since this is the first panel customers see when the product is folded and closed.
Page 2 is the inside of the CD insert, containing the panels that are revealed as it's unfolded. Make sure your pages are arranged in this order before uploading, as files submitted out of sequence may print incorrectly.

Please ensure your CD insert's file has the following dimensions:
Use CMYK only. Files in RGB or with spot colors will be automatically converted, which may cause colors to appear different from the original file:
Use images with a minimum resolution of 150 dpi, though 300 dpi is recommended for the sharpest print quality. Avoid low-resolution or pixelated images.
Film lamination (not to be confused with plastic pockets or sleeves) is bonded directly to your brochures to give them a protective layering. You can select between either matte or gloss film lamination.
A few things to keep in mind:
Use PostScript fonts for offset printing. If TrueType fonts are used, convert them to outlines (also known as paths or curves) to avoid rendering issues.
Export your artwork as PDF/X-3 for the best color accuracy and reliable printing results. Alternatively, you can send us JPEG or TIFF files. Adobe Photoshop users should always save their files as JPEG or TIFF. If a Photoshop PDF is required, please use Acrobat Distiller to create the PDF (you may download our Acrobat JobOptions further down this page). Please never save a PDF directly from Photoshop.
Use our blank CD insert templates here. These include the bleed, safety margins, color profile, and fold lines (if it is a folding product), so you can simply drop your content into the right place.
Please first choose a size from the calculator to see the according templates here.

Different CD insert styles call for different folds. From a single flat tray card to a multi-panel accordion packed with artwork and liner notes, the right fold shapes how your content unfolds in the listener's hands.
Choose the option that fits your release:
Choose from a variety of accordion fold options, ranging from 4 to 7 panels. These formats are often unavailable from many printers. The extra fold choices provide more room to organise your artwork, tracklists, credits, and other content creatively.
For the best results, don't place dark solid colors on fold lines. The ink might crack when you fold.
Note: For stapled and multi-page booklets that need binding to hold the pages together, explore our CD Booklets page.

A CD insert is a single sheet, printed flat or folded into multiple panels, ideal for shorter content like artwork, tracklists, or notes. A CD booklet is a bound (saddle-stitched or perfect bound), multi-page document (8 to 320 pages) suited to longer content such as lyrics, credits, or galleries.
Standard CD inserts are typically 4.75 × 4.75 inches, which fits mstandard jewel cases. The product configurator and artwork templates will confirm the exact dimensions for your selected product.
We accept PDF, JPEG, and TIFF files. For best results, include the correct bleed, set your file to CMYK, and export your final design as a high-resolution PDF, ideally PDF/X-3.
Production times vary based on quantity and the options you select. We display exact turnaround dates in our live calendar within the pricing calculator, and we track all shipments to ensure timely, secure delivery.
If you also need other printing products for the same campaign, we automatically group items shipping to the same address to reduce delivery costs.
We offer flat unfolded inserts plus a wide range of folds: half/bi-fold, tri/letter fold, and Z-fold, along with four-panel options like gate, roll, accordion, and French folds. Accordion folding extends up to seven panels, giving you considerable flexibility for multi-section layouts.
Flat sizes range from 9.5" x 4.75" up to 33.25" x 4.75" for multi-panel inserts, plus a 9.5" x 9.5" square option. Standard formats fold down to the 4.75" x 4.75" panel that fits a jewel case, depending on the folding style you select.
If you select a folding option, your inserts arrive professionally pre-folded and ready to place directly into the case.
Lighter coated text stocks, from 70 lb to 120 lb, fold cleanly and are the safest choice for multi-panel inserts. All heavier card stocks starting from 12 pt will be scored before folding to avoid cracking along the folds. For designs with several panels we generally recommend a thinner text-weight paper.
Yes, we offer a dedicated "CD Back" format for the rear tray card that fits the back of the jewel case. This is the inlay visible through the case, and its folded spine edges typically carry the album or product title.
Use our downloadable templates, which mark every fold line, and keep important text and images clear of those creases. Positioning key content within the central area of each panel, away from folds and the 0.1" bleed edges, ensures nothing important is obscured.
Yes. You can include UPC/EAN barcodes and QR codes on inserts or the tray card. For reliable scanning, place them on a single flat panel rather than across a fold, keep sufficient quiet space around them, and use high contrast against the background.
We offer a free sample kit that showcases our available paper stocks, finishes, and print quality. You can request one at any time through our Samples page.
To begin same-day production on folded CD inserts, your print-ready file should be uploaded before 3:00 AM EST. The configurator displays your estimated delivery date based on this cutoff, so you can confirm timing before placing your order.
